MINUTES OF THE MEETING (Accepted)
November 18, 2015

Trustees of the Chazy Public Library

Roll Call and Introductions:  The meeting was called to order at 5:30 pm by George Brendler (President). Present were Trustees: George Brendler, Debby Powers, Jill Beeman and Terry Tregan.  Kristen McAuliffe was absent.
Also attending  Frances Fairchild (Director).

Public Forum


Review of minutes for October 28, 2015:
Motion made by Debby to accept the minutes with corrections, seconded by Terry, motion passed.

Treasurer's Report:
Checking acct balance as of October 31, 2015 is $56,412.88.
There is $754.98 in the Kern donation available for book purchases.
Motion made to accept Treasurer's report by Jill, seconded by Terry, motion passed.

Director' Report:
Activities ongoing.
The Director has attended 2 workshops that pertain to the Early Literacy Community Asset Analysis at CEFLS.
The Press Republican is coming to the library November 19th to do publicity on the Quilt Raffle.
Friends Wagon Ride on November 6 was well attended.
Have tentatively scheduled Nan Hoffman for a concert in July 2016.
Many of our computers are not working, only one public computer is available.
John will be working on them this week.

Correspondence:
Jill will send a Thank You note to Champlain/Rouses Point Rotary for the donation of a children’s book titled, “Andy & Elmer’s Apple Dumpling Adventure” by Andrew J. Shoup.

Committee Reports:
Collections - Ongoing.

Policies –  Open Meeting Law Policy was reviewed. George will be updating it to say Denton Publications instead of North Countryman, and will include Social Media as an option to give the Public our meeting schedule.


Public Relations/Programs -    
Children’s yoga is scheduled for Nov 21.

Property Maintenance

Old Business: 
Terry explained the Early Literacy Community Asset Analysis to the board as a state wide initiative to promote early literacy to children not yet attending school. The focus
right now is on staff development. Our Director will continue to attend workshops.

George and Jill will sell raffle tickets for the Quilt at Stewarts Nov 21, 10AM-1PM.
Letters for the Holiday Drive are ready for mailing. Trustees will decorate the library
after Thanksgiving.  

Jill and Kristen will meet to do Director Evaluation before January meeting.

New Business:
The discussion for changing Library hours has been tabled until January.
George has ordered 3 Christmas wreaths from Laura Shambo.
We reviewed the by-laws in the Trustee Handbook.

Meeting was adjourned at 6:45 pm.
Next meeting, January 20th, 2016!!  at 5:30 .
