Trustees of the Chazy
Public Library

Roll Call and
Introductions: The meeting was
called to order at 5:30 pm by George Brendler (President). Present were
Trustees: George Brendler, Debby Powers,
Jill Beeman and Kristen McAuliffe. Tammy Braun was absent. Also, attending were Frances Fairchild
(Director) and Rae McAuliffe (FOL) and
John Brendler (volunteer) and guest
David Kimmel.
Public Forum
Friends of Library
report: Fall wagon ride is scheduled for Sunday, November 9th,
1-3 pm. The school
drama club is participating. There will be information about activities
at the library. Christmas Tea is scheduled for December 7th.
People are invited to
bring gingerbread
houses for display. Ann Lorenzini is gifting the library one of her
paintings, she will
dedicate it at the Tea.
David Kimmel, of
Kimmel Technology Integrated Systems, has offered to update the
library's website at
a discounted cost of $250. Kristen made a motion to use Mr. Kimmel's
services, Jill seconded the motion. John Brendler and George will be his
contacts for the project at this time.
Review of minutes for
September 25, 2014:
Debby Powers moved to accept minutes, seconded by Jill
Beeman.
Treasurer's Report:
Checking acct balance as of September 30, 2014 is $ 47,328.46
We have plenty of money available to purchase books.
Debby is going to
upgrade the Amazon acct to Amazon Prime so we can get free
shipping on
purchases. There is $252 leftover from the Dutcher donation for the
weathervane. This
money will be used to pay David Kimmel for his services.
Motion to accept Treasurer's report by Jill Beeman, seconded
by George Brendler
Director' Report:
The library has been approached by the Probation Dept to
have an individual do their
community service at the library. We have asked Francie to
have the probation dept contact George with the information before we approve
the community service.
Chazy Pre-K are scheduled to visit every 3rd Wednesday for
story time.
Kristen has submitted the story time schedule up to July
2015.
George and Debby are planning on attending the Library
luncheon at Lake Forest
November7th.
Francie is going to check and see if the Betty Little grant
is still available.
Correspondence:
Jill will send a Thank you card to Michael Labare who has
donated a children's book.
Committee Reports
Collections - No activity to report.
Programs - Story time schedule has been submitted.
Bob Cheeseman, town historian has been contacted about
fireside chats during winter months. We would like to set up some book
signings, possibly with Larry Gooley and
Lorna Earle.
Policy - No activity to report.
Public Relations -
Karen has done a great job with flyers for upcoming events.
Property Maintenance - .
Old Business:
A disaster kit, small chair truck and mouse pads have been
purchased. Plaque for weathervane has been installed by volunteer Jim
West. We have a brand new carousel that
we don't think we will use. We will look into donating it to school.
New Business:
We have decided not to purchase Early Literacy Station at
this time, the board feels it is too expensive.
A motion was made by Kristen to purchase 2 all-in-one
stations with anticipated funds from the Friends of the Library instead, Debby
seconded the motion.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:25pm.
