Friend's Report – Carolyn Harding was not present. President Brendler reported that, per Carolyn’s e-mail, the Friends made $750 at the Holiday Open House in the community room. President Brendler also reported that he has moved some shelving into the Friends’ storage room for their use.

Review of minutes of November 28, 2012: Trustee Trombly made a motion to accept the minutes as corrected (Community Room capacity is 68, not 69). Trustee Powers seconded the motion and it passed.

Treasurer's Report: Trustee Powers moved that we accept the treasurer’s reports for the months of November and December as presented. Second by Trustee Meehan. Motion passed. We had a beginning balance of $29,726 and an ending balance of $60,715 thanks to a deposit of $35,000 for from the tax levy. Trustee Powers presented a breakdown of expenses and it was decided to request funding of $35,000 again this year on the school budget ballot.

We received several significant donations during the past two months: $5,000 memorial donation for a new gazebo, $800 for youth and special needs, and $500 for books, which will be triple-matched by a grant from Grainger. An additional $4,072 was deposited as the last installment of the construction grant.

Director's Report – Community Room use is slow but steady; monthly story hour is going well; SUNY hasn’t gotten back with us on the use of interns; we still have Betty Little grant money to spend. Trustee Swan will forward a list of suggested titles in the Health and Wellness category; Mrs. Pothast from CCRS has expressed an interest in offering an art course at the library as part of the Creative Aging Workshop program being sponsored by CEFLS.

Committee Reports

Policy CommitteeTrustees forum continues; update of policies and Handbook continues; investigating amount to charge for renting Community Room

Collection DevelopmentThe CCRS sixth grade donated the books they earned from the elementary Scholastic book sale. Special thanks and a pic went out on Facebook. Trustee Powers has single-handedly processed over 400 books in the past few months while Trustee Trombly has continued to weed the collection and pull books needing new covers or labels. The Trustees thanked them for their many hours spent in the library on weekends.

Public Relations – Lake Champlain Weekly will do an article on the Kern donation ($2000) Trustee Tina Trombly wrote a nice letter to the editor about the library; Facebook continues to be active.

Legal AffairsNo report

Garden Committee No report

Fund Raising – Trustee Trombley reported that we made $105 on the quilt raffle and $1545 on the Holiday Book Drive.

Unfinished business

Jim West created box enclosure for sump pump at no charge to us. Portico metal gate to be done later.

"SmartShield" purchase for public computers has been made.

Computer replacement progress: Trustee Brendler reminds us to plan to replace the computers on a rotating basis.

Need system for dealing with on-going book sale and fresh gifts of used books, amount displayed, storage of books for Friends' Annual Book Sale. It was generally decided that we should dispose of the books on the metal shelving and take the unit down since it takes up too much room. Books that don’t sell over a reasonable period of time will be separated out for Trustee Brendler to discard. It was generally decided to run a book sale in February with 25 cent paperpacks, 50 cent hard covers ad $5.00 per bag. It was suggested that Cornerstone Book store might be interested in picking some up.

Flag pole placement in the spring (passed in Nov)

New business

Sunshine Fund deposits are due. $20 per Trustee.

Year At Glance Trustee Brendler added action items for the Director as well.

Trustee Trombly made a motion to gratefully accept an anonymous gift of $5,000 for Garden/Gazebo construction. Trustee Brendler is working on plans for the project, which will include a pavestone walkway.

Dev. Assn gift for youth and special needs, $800. Consensus to spend some of the funds on a computer training course for seniors at the library. Francie will find a teacher for it.
